GAMT Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GAMT in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GAMT (G-9) antibody is offered in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. GAMT plays a crucial role in the creatine biosynthesis pathway, where GAMT catalyzes the conversion of guanidinoacetate to creatine using S-adenosylmethionine as a methyl donor. This process is vital for energy metabolism in muscle and brain tissues, as creatine serves as an important energy reservoir. The human GAMT gene encodes a 236 amino acid protein and is located on chromosome 19p13.3. Mutations or defects in the GAMT gene can lead to GAMT deficiency, resulting in the accumulation of guanidinoacetate and reduced creatine levels, which are associated with various neurological disorders and muscular hypotonia. Anti-GAMT antibody (G-9) accurately detects GAMT, making this tool essential for research into these conditions and for understanding the broader implications of creatine metabolism in health and disease.
