γ-GCSm Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase (γ-GCS) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). γ-GCS plays a crucial role as the rate-limiting enzyme in glutathione synthesis, a vital antioxidant that protects cells from oxidative stress and maintains cellular redox balance. γ-GCS functions as a heterodimer composed of a heavy catalytic subunit and a light regulatory subunit, forming a zinc metalloprotein that responds to various cellular signals, including inflammation and oxidative stress. The catalytic subunit, encoded by a gene located on chromosome 6p12, consists of 367 amino acids and is essential for enzymatic activity, while the regulatory subunit, found on chromosome 1p22-p21, modulates enzyme function through reversible disulfide bond formation. This intricate regulation of γ-GCS activity maintains adequate glutathione levels, particularly in response to cellular stressors, making γ-GCS (F-8) antibody an invaluable tool for studying oxidative stress and related pathways in various biological contexts.

Are there any issues with using sc-166603: γ-GCSm (F-8) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-166603 conjugates.
