FTβ Antibody (B-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects FTβ protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FTβ (B-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FTβ protein plays a crucial role in post-translational modification of proteins through farnesylation, a process essential for proper localization and function of several key proteins, including nuclear lamins and oncogene p21Ras. This modification is vital for membrane association of these proteins, influencing their activity and interactions within the cell. The farnesyl transferase enzyme, consisting of a heterodimer of α and β subunits, facilitates attachment of farnesyl residues to specific cysteine residues in target proteins, thereby regulating various cellular processes such as signal transduction and cell division. FTβ, a 437 amino acid protein containing five PFTB repeats, is responsible for binding peptide substrate, while the α subunit stabilizes the complex with farnesyl pyrophosphate, underscoring the importance of this enzyme in cellular signaling pathways.
