fetuin-A Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects fetuin-A in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-fetuin-A antibody (H-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Fetuin-A, also known as α-2-HS-glycoprotein, is a secreted plasma protein primarily produced in hepatocytes, monocytes/macrophages, and bone tissue, and expression is notably down-regulated during injury and inflammation. Fetuin-A plays a crucial role in calcium and barium ion transport in the bloodstream, contributing to serum calcium homeostasis and mineralization, which are vital for maintaining bone health and preventing disorders related to mineral imbalance. Fetuin-A acts as an acute phase anti-inflammatory mediator, essential for modulating the innate immune response following tissue injury. During inflammatory processes, circulating fetuin-A levels significantly decrease as fetuin-A associates with macrophage membranes, enhancing the uptake of cationic small molecules and facilitating mechanisms that deactivate macrophages. The biologically active form of fetuin-A is generated from a precursor protein that undergoes cleavage at the amino terminus, resulting in two chains linked by a single disulfide bond, underscoring the importance of structural integrity for functional activity.
