SEE ALSO...

fetuin-A Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects human fetuin-A by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-fetuin-A antibody (H-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Fetuin-A, also known as alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein or alpha-2-Z-globulin, is a secreted plasma protein primarily produced in the liver, monocytes/macrophages, and bone tissue. Fetuin-A binds and transports calcium and barium ions in the bloodstream, playing a significant part in maintaining serum calcium homeostasis and mineralization. Additionally, fetuin-A acts as an acute phase anti-inflammatory mediator, regulating innate immune response following tissue injury. During inflammatory responses, circulating fetuin-A levels decrease significantly as fetuin-A associates with macrophage membranes, where fetuin-A enhances the uptake of cationic small molecules into activated macrophages, facilitating mechanisms that deactivate these immune cells. A biologically active form of fetuin-A is generated from a precursor protein that undergoes cleavage at the amino terminus, resulting in two chains linked by a single disulfide bond, underscoring the importance of structural integrity for functional roles in health and disease.
