Factor H Antibody (L20/3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Factor H in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Factor H is a crucial serum glycoprotein composed of 1213 amino acids, organized into 20 short consensus repeats (SCRs) that are approximately 60 amino acids in length, along with an 18-residue leader sequence. This unique structure allows Factor H to effectively regulate the alternative complement pathway, serving as a cofactor for Factor I, which inactivates C3b, thereby preventing excessive complement activation that could lead to tissue damage. Beyond complement system regulation, Factor H also interacts with various cellular components, including the integrin receptor CD11b/CD18 and cell surface glycosaminoglycans, highlighting Factor H′s multifunctional nature and importance in immune response and pathogen recognition. Notably, Factor H deficiencies are associated with acute renal diseases, underscoring Factor H′s significance in maintaining kidney health and overall immune function. Anti-Factor H antibody (L20/3) is an essential tool for researchers investigating the complexities of the complement system and its implications in various diseases.
