Factor H Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Factor H in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Factor H is a crucial serum glycoprotein composed of 1213 amino acids, organized into 20 short consensus repeats (SCRs), which are essential for diverse functions in the immune system. Factor H (D-8) antibody recognizes a protein that plays a pivotal role in regulating the alternative complement pathway, acting as a cofactor for Factor I, which inactivates C3b, thereby preventing excessive complement activation that can lead to tissue damage. Beyond complement system regulation, Factor H is involved in various interactions with cellular components, including binding to the integrin receptor CD11b/CD18 and associating with glycosaminoglycans on cell surfaces, which is vital for modulating immune responses and maintaining homeostasis.
