    SEE ALSO...

ETHE1 Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ETHE1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ETHE1 antibody (B-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ETHE1, also known as ethylmalonic encephalopathy 1 or hepatoma subtracted clone one protein, consists of 254 amino acids and belongs to the metallo-beta-lactamase superfamily and glyoxalase II family. ETHE1 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm, nucleus, and mitochondrial matrix, which is crucial for sulfide catabolism, a process that helps detoxify harmful sulfide compounds in cells. ETHE1 binds two zinc ions per subunit, which is essential for structural integrity and enzymatic function. Additionally, ETHE1 interacts directly with RELA protein, inhibiting RELA translocation to the nucleus and thereby suppressing p53-induced apoptosis, a critical pathway in cancer biology. The gene encoding ETHE1 is located on human chromosome 19q13.31, and mutations in this gene are associated with ethylmalonic encephalopathy, a severe metabolic disorder that manifests in infancy with symptoms such as high levels of ethylmalonic acid, neurodevelopmental delays, recurrent petechiae, acrocyanosis, and a high mortality rate within the first decade of life.
