ERp57 Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects ERp57 in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ERp57, also known as GRP57, GRP58, ERp60, and ERp61, plays a crucial role in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I pathway, which is essential for the immune response against intracellular pathogens. ERp57 is primarily located in the endoplasmic reticulum, where ERp57 assists in the proper folding and assembly of MHC class I molecules, ensuring that MHC class I molecules can effectively present short pathogenic peptides to cytotoxic T lymphocytes. ERp57 functioning is vital for the immune system, as any disruption in this process can lead to impaired antigen presentation and a weakened immune response, making ERp57 a significant factor in the body′s defense mechanisms. The human ERp57 gene is located on chromosome 15q15 and encodes a 505 amino acid protein that contains two highly conserved Trp-Cys-Gly-His-Cys-Lys motifs, underscoring its evolutionary importance. ERp57 may also exhibit multifunctional properties, acting as a protease, a protein disulfide isomerase, or a phospholipase, which further highlights ERp57′s significance in cellular processes.
