eRF3a/b Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects eRF3a/b protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-eRF3a/b antibody (B-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. eRF3a protein, also known as GSPT1 (G1 to S phase transition 1), is a 499 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating cell growth by controlling translation termination, a vital process ensuring accurate protein synthesis. This function prevents production of truncated or malfunctioning proteins that could disrupt cellular functions and lead to diseases, including cancer. eRF3a exhibits a high degree of conservation across species, sharing 94% sequence identity with mouse counterpart, which underscores an essential role in cellular processes. eRF3b, also known as GSPT2, is a 632 amino acid cytoplasmic protein highly expressed in brain and involved in translation termination in response to termination codons UAA, UAG, and UGA. eRF3b acts as a potent stimulator of release factor activity of eRF1 and possesses GTPase activity dependent on ribosome and eRF1, indicating involvement in cell cycle progression. eRF3b is moderately expressed in spleen and lung, with weaker expression in heart, liver, and kidney, and contains three GTP binding sites, making eRF3b a key component of mRNA surveillance SURF complex.
