SEE ALSO...

Egr-2 Antibody (1G5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects the Egr-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Egr-2 antibody (1G5) is available as the non-conjugated form. Egr-2 protein plays a crucial role as a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor, primarily involved in regulating gene expression during cellular growth and differentiation. Egr-2 binds to specific DNA sites in the promoter region of target genes, such as HoxA4, and is predominantly localized in the nucleus, where Egr-2 influences developmental processes. Egr-2′s importance is underscored by associations with congenital hypomyelination neuropathy (CHN) and Dejerine-Sottas syndrome (DSS), both characterized by severe neurological deficits and slow nerve conduction velocities due to mutations in the EGR2 gene. A high degree of conservation in the zinc finger region between human Egr-2 and mouse Egr-1, with 92% identity, highlights the evolutionary significance of Egr-2 in transcriptional regulation. Egr-2 monoclonal antibody (1G5) is an essential tool for researchers studying the molecular mechanisms underlying these neuropathies and the broader implications of Egr proteins in cellular function.
