Cytokeratin 1 Antibody (E-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Cytokeratin 1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Cytokeratin 1 antibody (E-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytokeratin 1, also known as KRT1, is a vital component of the cytoskeletal structure in epithelial cells, playing a crucial role in maintaining cellular integrity and resilience against mechanical stress. KRT1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm of keratinocytes, forming part of the intermediate filament network that provides structural support and stability to cells. KRT1 expression is particularly important in the epidermis, contributing to skin barrier formation, which protects against environmental damage and prevents water loss. Additionally, KRT1 serves as a key marker for various epithelial malignancies, including epithelioid hemangioendotheliomas and angiosarcomas, making anti-KRT1 antibody (E-12) a valuable tool for cancer diagnosis and research. The gene encoding human KRT1 is located on chromosome 12q13.13, and mutations in this gene can lead to abnormal filament formation and conditions such as epidermolytic hyperkeratosis, highlighting KRT1′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
