SEE ALSO...

COL7A1 Antibody (4D2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects COL7A1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-COL7A1 antibody (4D2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. COL7A1, also known as type VII collagen, plays a crucial role in forming anchoring fibrils that connect the epidermis to the dermis, providing structural integrity to the skin. COL7A1 is primarily located in the basement membrane zone, where COL7A1 is essential for maintaining skin stability and resilience against mechanical stress. Mutations in the COL7A1 gene can lead to dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, a severe skin blistering disorder, highlighting COL7A1′s importance in skin health and disease. Understanding COL7A1′s function and localization is vital for developing therapeutic strategies for conditions associated with COL7A1′s dysfunction.

Do you know if this antibody (COL7A1 Antibody (4D2): sc-33710) reacts with mouse, or only human? We are searching for an anti-COL7A1 antibody that will NOT recognized mouse collagen VII, only human, and is conjugated. Thanks for the help.

Asked by: Dorothy
Thank you for your question. We recommend sc-33710:COL7A1 (4D2) for use with human samples. The exact binding site of sc-33710:COL7A1 (4D2) has not been characterized and, therefore, unable to determine homolgy with mouse COL7A1. We offer sc-33710:COL7A1 (4D2) conjugated to HRP and a variety of fluorochromes. If you are interested, we are providing complimentary samples of the unconjugated version of this antibody for a limited time. Please contact technical service for further information.

Can COL7A1 (4D2): sc-33710 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, COL7A1 (4D2): sc-33710 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
