COL6A3 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Collagen α3 Type VI of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COL6A3 (A-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Collagens are essential fibrous proteins that provide structural support and strength to connective tissues, such as tendons and cartilage, and are characterized by their unique triple helix structure, which allows for lateral self-association to form complex tissue architectures. Specifically, COL6A3, a 3,176 amino acid secreted protein, contains one fibronectin type-III domain, one MPTI inhibitor domain, and twelve von Willebrand factor A domains, making COL6A3 the largest of the three alpha chains in the type VI collagen complex. COL6A3 is crucial for cell adhesion and organization of extracellular matrix components, and proper function is vital for maintaining tissue integrity. Notably, mutations in COL6A3 are linked to serious conditions such as Bethlem myopathy and Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy, highlighting COL6A3′s importance in muscle and connective tissue health. Multiple isoforms of COL6A3 due to alternative splicing further emphasize functional diversity and significance in various biological processes.
