CD59 Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects CD59 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD59 is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein predominantly found on the surface of leukocytes, vascular endothelial cells, various epithelial cells, and the placenta, playing a crucial role in the immune response. CD59 functions primarily as a regulator of the complement system, specifically inhibiting the formation of the membrane attack complex (MAC) by binding to the C8 and C9 components, thereby preventing lytic pore formation on host cell membranes. CD59′s location on the cell surface allows for immediate interaction with complement components, effectively protecting host cells from complement-mediated lysis during inflammatory responses. CD59 is involved in signaling pathways that drive calcium release and activate lipid-raft associated signaling molecules, including tyrosine kinases, which are vital for T cell adhesion and activation. The CD59 gene contains two p53-responsive domains, suggesting a potential role in protecting host cells from damage during inflammation, and indicating that p53 may influence the susceptibility of tumor cells to complement lysis during chemotherapy. Anti-CD59 antibody (B-3) is an essential tool for researchers studying immune regulation and the complement system in various biological contexts.
