CD14 Antibody (BA-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against human monocytes, recommended for the detection of CD14 of human origin by flow cytometry (FCM). CD14, also known as CD14 antigen or myeloid cell-specific leucine-rich glycoprotein, is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein expressed on the surface of monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. Serving as a co-receptor for lipopolysaccharide (LPS), CD14 plays a crucial role in the innate immune response by recognizing bacterial components and triggering the secretion of cytokines and other mediators. This function is vital for activating macrophages and monocytes in response to gram-negative bacterial infections. CD14 exists in two forms: a membrane-bound form (mCD14) and a soluble form (sCD14), both contributing to the immune response by facilitating cell activation directly or enabling cells lacking mCD14 to respond to LPS in the presence of lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP). The importance of CD14 in immune system activation makes CD14 a significant target for research in immunology, infectious diseases, and inflammation. Using anti-CD14 antibody (BA-8), researchers can effectively study the mechanisms of innate immunity and the body′s response to bacterial pathogens, making CD14 (BA-8) antibody a valuable tool in advancing our understanding of immune responses.
