SEE ALSO...

Cathepsin C Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cathepsin C protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cathepsin C antibody (D-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cathepsin C, also known as dipeptidyl aminopeptidase I (DPPI), is a tetrameric lysosomal cysteine peptidase that plays a crucial role in intracellular protein degradation and processing of protein precursors, which is vital for cell growth and activation of various proteins, including neuraminidase and platelet factor XIII. Cathepsin C is primarily localized in secretory granule compartment of cytotoxic lymphocytes and myeloid cells, with highest expression levels found in spleen and kidney. Cathepsin C is synthesized as a proenzyme that undergoes rapid processing to form two distinct chains that work together as active enzyme. Cathepsin C requires halide ions, particularly chloride ions, and thiols for complete enzymatic activity, and interacts with other lysosomal cysteine proteinases, such as cathepsin B, H, and L, highlighting importance in various physiological processes.

Can this antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. Yes, this cathepsin C (D-6): sc-74590 monoclonal antibody has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
