    SEE ALSO...

CA VI Antibody (F-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CA VI protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CA VI antibody (F-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Carbonic anhydrase VI (CA VI) plays a crucial role in taste perception by being secreted in saliva, where CA VI protects taste receptor cells from apoptosis, thereby maintaining their functionality. CA VI is primarily located in the salivary glands and is secreted into the oral cavity, which is vital for its protective role in taste function. Notably, CA VI exists as a single polypeptide chain that is tightly bound to a zinc ion, and CA VI features two N-linked glycosylation sites that are essential for stability and activity. A decrease in CA VI secretion has been linked to various taste disorders, such as hypogeusia and dysgeusia, highlighting the importance of CA VI in sensory perception. Studies have shown that supplementing zinc in individuals with taste dysfunction can restore CA VI secretion to normal levels, suggesting that zinc plays a significant role in the regulation of this enzyme and its associated functions.
