SEE ALSO...

CA I Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects CA I protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CA I (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Carbonic anhydrases (CAs), also known as carbonate dehydratases, are a significant family of zinc metalloenzymes that play crucial roles in numerous physiological processes. CA I is particularly important due to involvement in the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide, which is essential for maintaining acid-base balance in the body. This enzyme facilitates the conversion of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate, a reaction vital for respiration and pH level regulation in various tissues. CA I is localized in the cytoplasm, participating in the formation of key biological fluids such as saliva and gastric acid, thereby influencing digestive processes. The CA1 gene, which encodes human CA I, is located on chromosome 8 and is part of a gene cluster that includes other carbonic anhydrase genes, highlighting the evolutionary significance and functional diversity of this enzyme family. Research has shown that while a severe deficiency of CA I does not lead to significant hematological or renal issues, proper function remains critical for overall metabolic homeostasis.
