BPI Antibody (H-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects BPI protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-BPI antibody (H-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The bactericidal permeability increasing protein (BPI) plays a crucial role in the immune response by acting as an antibacterial and endotoxin-neutralizing agent, primarily found in the granules of polymorphonuclear leukocytes, such as neutrophils. The human BPI gene, which spans 31.5 kb and is located on chromosome 20q11.23-q12, consists of 15 exons and encodes a 456 amino acid protein. BPI is strategically localized to the cell surface of epithelial cells, which serve as the first line of defense against bacterial invasion. Such localization enables BPI to block endotoxin-mediated signaling, thereby safeguarding mucosal surfaces from the harmful effects of gram-negative bacteria and their endotoxins. BPI is part of a functionally related protein family that includes lipopolysaccharide binding protein, phospholipid transfer protein, and cholesteryl ester transfer protein, highlighting BPI′s importance in the broader context of immune defense mechanisms.

Hi, I was wondering if this particular antibody was suitable for western blotting of a Native- PAGE gel, as I am having some issues with detection. many thanks Karen

Asked by: Kazz
thank you very much for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we didn't try this antibody to detect the native protein. We would recommend you to try once with our recommended protocol (reduction conditions): https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting. If you keep having problems, please contact directly our Technical Service (europe@scbt.com), we offer a product warranty valid for one year since the date of purchase.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-514212 P appropriate for?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
