SEE ALSO...

β-2-Microglobulin Antibody (S19.8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects β-2-Microglobulin in mouse, rat, human, and primate samples through immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM) applications. Anti-β-2-Microglobulin antibody (S19.8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. β-2-Microglobulin plays a crucial role in the immune system as a component of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules, which are essential for presenting peptide antigens on the surface of cells to T cells, thereby facilitating immune responses. β-2-Microglobulin is located on the cell surface, where β-2-Microglobulin associates non-covalently with the heavy chain of MHC class I molecules, forming a stable complex that is vital for proper folding and expression of these molecules. This interaction is critical for the immune system′s ability to recognize and respond to infected or malignant cells. Notably, mice lacking β-2-Microglobulin exhibit a normal distribution of T cells but are unable to produce mature CD4-8+ T cells, leading to impaired cytotoxic T cell responses. The human β-2-Microglobulin gene is located on chromosome 15q21-q22.2 and encodes a 119 amino acid protein, with mutations in this gene being linked to the progression of malignant melanoma phenotypes.

Can β-2-Microglobulin (S19.8): sc-32241 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, β-2-Microglobulin (S19.8): sc-32241 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
