SEE ALSO...

β-2-Microglobulin Antibody (G-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects β-2-Microglobulin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). β-2-Microglobulin (G-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. β-2-Microglobulin plays a crucial role in the immune system as a component of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules, which are essential for presenting antigens on the surface of cells. This presentation is vital for the recognition of infected or malignant cells by CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, thereby facilitating an effective immune response. β-2-Microglobulin is located on the cell surface, where β-2-Microglobulin associates non-covalently with the heavy chain of MHC class I molecules, contributing to their stability and proper folding. Notably, the absence of β-2-Microglobulin leads to a lack of mature CD4-8+ T cells, highlighting β-2-Microglobulin′s importance in T cell development and function. The human β-2-Microglobulin gene is located on chromosome 15q21-q22.2 and encodes a 119 amino acid protein, with mutations in this gene being linked to the progression of malignant melanoma phenotypes.

Can β-2-Microglobulin (G-10): sc-46697 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, β-2-Microglobulin (G-10): sc-46697 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from high affinity and high specificityI check the antibody in decidual macropages by WB, and it shows only one spicific band and could detect the B2M molecule by fewer sample which the antibody from another company could not do it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good signal and appears specificWorks really nicely on PFA fixed free-floating sections as long as you use heat-mediated antigen retrieval. I successfully used this with 30um thick mouse tissue sections pre-incubated in pH6 citrate buffer and microwaved.
