BChE Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects butyrylcholine esterase (BChE) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-BChE antibody (D-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Butyrylcholine esterase, also known as acylcholine acylhydrolase or pseudocholinesterase, is predominantly synthesized in the liver and hydrolyzes acylcholine into choline and carboxylate, playing a significant role in neurotransmission and detoxification of harmful substances. BChE is present in most cells except erythrocytes and exhibits esterase and aryl acylamidase activities, which maintain cholinergic signaling and modulate effects of organophosphate esters. BChE can form a homotetramer structure composed of two dimers linked by a disulfide bond, essential for enzymatic function and stability. Deficiencies in BChE are linked to hypocholinesterasemia, a condition leading to various neurological issues. Additionally, BChE inhibition affects organophosphate toxicity in the respiratory system, suggesting potential therapeutic applications in cases of intoxication with substances such as cocaine.

What is the difference between sc-377403 and sc-377403 P?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. sc-377403 P is our blocking peptide, meant as a negative control for use with the BChE (D-5): sc-377403 monoclonal antibody.

What secondary is best to use with BChE (D-5): sc-377403?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. While most anti-mouse IgG secondary antibodies are appropriate for use with BChE (D-5):sc-377403, we recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
