BAP31 Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BAP31 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BAP31 (D-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BAP31, a human Bcl-2-interacting protein, is an integral membrane protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum, where BAP31 plays a crucial role in apoptosis regulation. BAP31 is part of a complex that connects apoptosis-initiating caspases, such as procaspase-8, with anti-apoptotic regulators like Bcl-2 or Bcl-XL, thereby influencing cell survival and death pathways. The cytosolic domain of BAP31 contains two identical caspase recognition sites that are cleaved preferentially by initiator caspases, leading to the generation of a p20 fragment during apoptosis. This fragment remains integrated in the membrane and, when ectopically expressed, acts as a potent inducer of cell death. BAP31 cleavage is vital for the manifestation of cytoplasmic apoptotic events, including membrane fragmentation and the interplay between mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum during Fas-mediated apoptosis. BAP31 gene is ubiquitously expressed across murine tissues and is located on the X chromosome in both mouse and human, highlighting BAP31′s significance in cellular processes and potential implications in disease states.
