ASTL Antibody (F-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ASTL (astacin-like metalloendopeptidase) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ASTL is a 435 amino acid protein belonging to the astacin family of metalloproteases, characterized by its N-terminal signal peptide, a prodomain, a zinc-dependent metalloprotease domain, and a C-terminal extension that is likely to be heavily O-glycosylated. ASTL plays a crucial role in fertilization, as ASTL is highly expressed in unfertilized oocytes and expression dramatically decreases upon fertilization, indicating importance in reproductive biology. Additionally, ASTL is regulated by hormonal signals, with superovulation leading to a significant increase in expression, highlighting potential role in reproductive health and fertility treatments. ASTL catalytic activity can be inhibited by EDTA and the broad-spectrum metalloproteinase inhibitor batimastat (BB-94), making ASTL a target of interest for therapeutic interventions. The gene encoding ASTL is located on chromosome 2q11.2, and two isoforms of ASTL exist due to alternative splicing events, which may have distinct functional implications. Anti-ASTL antibody (F-10) is an essential tool for researchers studying the dynamics of ASTL in various biological contexts.
