ASL Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ASL in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ASL (E-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ASL, or argininosuccinate lyase, is a critical enzyme in the urea cycle, primarily located in the cytoplasm of liver cells, where ASL functions as a homotetramer. ASL (E-5) monoclonal antibody recognizes an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolytic cleavage of argininosuccinic acid into fumarate and arginine, a vital process for ammonia detoxification and arginine biosynthesis, which is essential for protein synthesis and various metabolic pathways. Proper functioning of ASL is crucial, as deficiencies or mutations in ASL can lead to argininosuccinic acid accumulation, resulting in argininosuccinic aciduria, a serious autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hyperammonemia, neurological impairments, and distinctive hair abnormalities.
