AMID Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects AMID (apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF)-like mitochondrion-associated inducer of death) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AMID plays a crucial role in the regulation of apoptosis, functioning as a pro-apoptotic flavoprotein with NAD(P)H oxidase activity, which is vital for cellular homeostasis and response to stress. AMID is primarily localized in the cytosol and associates with the outer mitochondrial membrane, where AMID can influence mitochondrial function and cell death pathways. AMID expression is notably upregulated by the tumor suppressor protein p53, linking AMID to critical cellular processes such as DNA damage response and apoptosis. AMID exists in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, with isoform 1 being the full-length protein and isoform 2 lacking specific amino acids while also containing an additional three amino acids. AMID′s ability to induce apoptosis upon overexpression underscores AMID′s importance in cancer biology and therapeutic targeting. Anti-AMID antibody (E-1) serves as an essential tool for researchers investigating the mechanisms of apoptosis and mitochondrial function.
