SEE ALSO...

AMID Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects AMID protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AMID (B-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AMID protein, also known as apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF)-like mitochondrion-associated inducer of death or p53-responsive gene 3 (PRG3), plays a crucial role in apoptosis as a caspase-independent pro-apoptotic flavoprotein with NAD(P)H oxidase activity. AMID protein is primarily localized in the cytosol and associates with the outer mitochondrial membrane, which allows effective mediation of apoptotic signals in response to cellular stress. AMID protein is expressed in most normal tissues and shows upregulated expression by tumor suppressor protein p53, highlighting its importance in cancer biology. Two isoforms of AMID protein exist due to alternative splicing, with isoform 1 being the full-length protein and isoform 2 lacking amino acids 99-138 while having an additional three amino acids inserted after residue 206. AMID protein overexpression has been linked to apoptosis induction, making AMID protein critical in the study of cell death mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets in cancer treatment.
