ALB Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to recognize amino acids 25-164 near the N-terminus of mouse serum albumin (ALB), also known as mouse serum albumin (MSA). Anti-ALB antibody (G-8) is recommended for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) applications specifically in mouse and rat samples. Serum albumin is the most abundant protein in blood plasma, synthesized in the liver′s hepatocytes, and plays a crucial role in maintaining the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood, which is essential for regulating fluid balance between blood vessels and tissues. Structurally, albumin consists of a single polypeptide chain with multiple domains that facilitate the binding and transport of various ligands, including fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs, ensuring their distribution and availability throughout the body. Post-translational modifications of albumin, such as glycosylation and oxidation, are vital for stability and functionality, enhancing binding and release of molecules efficiently under different physiological conditions. Albumin interacts with specific proteins like the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), which is important for albumin recycling and prolonging half-life in circulation, and fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs), which assist in the transport of fatty acids. These interactions are essential for maintaining metabolic homeostasis and ensuring the efficient delivery of essential molecules. Additionally, albumin′s ability to bind hormones such as thyroxine underscores importance in endocrine regulation. Mutations in the ALB gene can lead to disorders like familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia (FDH), which affects thyroid hormone binding and highlights the clinical significance of albumin′s functional interactions. ALB monoclonal antibody (G-8) supports researchers in investigating albumin-related physiological processes and disease mechanisms and serves as an indispensable tool for advancing biomedical research and diagnostic applications, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of albumin′s essential roles in health and disease.
