SEE ALSO...

AIF Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 1-300 of human Apoptosis-Inducing Factor (AIF), also known as AIFM1. AIF (E-1) antibody detects AIF proteins from mouse, rat, and human origins in applications such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry (paraffin-embedded), flow cytometry (FCM), and ELISA. AIF is a mitochondrial flavoprotein that plays a critical role in caspase-independent apoptosis by translocating from the mitochondria to the nucleus upon apoptotic stimuli. In the nucleus, AIF induces chromatin condensation and large-scale DNA fragmentation, contributing to programmed cell death. Understanding AIF′s function is important because AIF provides insights into the mechanisms of cell death, which has implications in neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and other pathologies where apoptosis is dysregulated. Additionally, AIF is involved in mitochondrial energy metabolism and maintenance of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Mutations in the AIFM1 gene, which encodes AIF, have been associated with human diseases such as X-linked recessive mitochondrial encephalopathy. By targeting the N-terminal region of AIF, AIF (E-1) antibody is a valuable tool for researchers investigating the role of AIF in apoptosis and mitochondrial function. AIF monoclonal antibody (E-1) enables reliable detection of AIF in various experimental applications, aiding in the advancement of research in cell death and mitochondrial biology.

I did IF staining (1:250) on fresh frozen mouse tumour section together with anti mouse conjugated to 647 as secondary antibody. However, there is very high signal on my negative stain where i only stain with the secondary antibody. Pls advise

Can AIF Antibody (E-1): sc-13116 be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. Yes, AIF Antibody (E-1): sc-13116 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
