ADAR1 Antibody (15.8.6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ADAR1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-ADAR1 antibody (15.8.6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The RNA-specific adenosine deaminase, ADAR1, plays a crucial role in RNA editing by converting adenosine to inosine in double-stranded RNA, which is essential for the regulation of gene expression and maintenance of RNA stability. This post-translational modification influences the coding potential of mRNA and functionality of non-coding RNAs, thereby impacting various cellular processes and responses to environmental stimuli. ADAR1 is expressed from an interferon-response promoter and features a Z-DNA/Z-RNA binding domain at its N-terminus, which is important for structured RNA interaction. ADAR1 co-localizes with SUMO-1 in a distinct subnucleolar region, and nuclear localization is regulated by a nucleolar localization signal and nuclear exporter signal. ADAR1′s ability to bind short interfering RNA (siRNA) suggests a role in modulating gene silencing effectiveness in mammalian cells, highlighting significance in RNA biology and therapeutic applications.
