4E-BP3 Antibody (4-RY9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the 4E-BP3 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-4E-BP3 antibody (4-RY9) is available as a non-conjugated format. The 4E-BP3 protein, also known as EIF4EBP3 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein 3), plays a crucial role in the regulation of protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells, which is essential for cell growth and proliferation. This 100 amino acid protein is a member of the eIF4E-binding protein family and is primarily expressed in the heart, kidney, pancreas, and skeletal muscle, with lower expression levels in the thymus and brain. 4E-BP3 functions by interacting with eIF4E, thereby inhibiting its incorporation into the eIF4F complex, which is vital for the initiation of translation. This regulatory mechanism is particularly important in response to various cellular signals, including nutrient availability and growth factors, as it helps control the overall protein synthesis rate in the cell. Additionally, 4E-BP3 is subject to post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation, which further modulates its activity and stability, and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 5.
