    SEE ALSO...

17β-HSD4 Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects 17β-HSD4 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 17β-HSD4, also known as peroxisomal multifunctional enzyme/protein 2 (MFE-2/MFP-2), D-bifunctional enzyme, or 17-β Estradiol dehydrogenase type IV, plays a crucial role in regulating steroid availability across various tissues by inactivating estradiol through oxidative activity. Beyond involvement in steroid metabolism, 17β-HSD4 is essential for peroxisomal fatty acid and cholesterol β-oxidation, highlighting importance in lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis. A multi-domain structure, comprising a dehydrogenase domain fused with a hydratase and a lipid transfer domain, is critical for multifunctional enzymatic activities. 17β-HSD4 is a target protein of chromeceptin and is vital for downstream activation of Stat6, a key player in immune response and inflammation. Deficiencies in 17β-HSD4 can lead to severe conditions such as Zellweger-like syndrome, characterized by significant neurological and developmental challenges, including neuronal migration defects and facial dysmorphisms, ultimately resulting in high infant mortality. anti-17β-HSD4 antibody (B-5) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying intricate roles in both steroid metabolism and cellular function.
