17β-HSD4 Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects 17β-HSD4 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-17β-HSD4 antibody (A-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. 17β-HSD4, also known as peroxisomal multifunctional enzyme/protein 2 (MFE-2/MFP-2), D-bifunctional enzyme, or 17-β Estradiol dehydrogenase type IV, plays a crucial role in regulating steroid availability within various tissues by inactivating estradiol through oxidative activity. 17β-HSD4 is primarily involved in peroxisomal fatty acid and cholesterol β-oxidation, which is vital for maintaining cellular energy homeostasis and lipid metabolism. 17β-HSD4 features a multi-domain structure that includes a dehydrogenase domain fused to a hydratase and a lipid transfer domain, allowing diverse functions to be performed effectively. Deficiencies in 17β-HSD4 can lead to severe developmental disorders, such as Zellweger-like syndrome, characterized by neuronal migration defects, facial dysmorphisms, and significant hypotonia, often resulting in early mortality. The ability of 17β-HSD4 to interact with various substrates and essential role in metabolic pathways underscore its importance in both health and disease, making anti-17β-HSD4 antibody (A-6) a valuable tool for research in steroid metabolism and related disorders.
