17β-HSD2 Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects 17 beta-HSD2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-17β-HSD2 antibody (E-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. 17β-HSD2, also known as 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2, plays a crucial role in regulating steroid availability within tissues by converting active steroids, such as estradiol and testosterone, into their inactive forms through oxidative activity. This enzymatic function influences local hormone concentrations, which can significantly impact various physiological processes and disease states, including breast tumor development, colon cancer, and endometriosis. 17β-HSD2 is predominantly expressed in the placenta, endometrium, and prostate, but can also be found in the liver, small intestine, and kidney, highlighting diverse roles in different tissues. As a membrane-bound protein, 17β-HSD2 is essential for steroid metabolism. Notably, tibolone, a medication used to alleviate climacteric symptoms in menopausal women, exerts part of its therapeutic effects by activating 17β-HSD2, further underscoring its significance in hormonal regulation and potential therapeutic targets.
