SEE ALSO...

17β-HSD Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects 17β-HSD protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 17β-HSD (D-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (17β-HSD) enzyme plays a crucial role in steroid metabolism, catalyzing the conversion of estrone to estradiol and androstenedione to testosterone, which are vital for reproductive health and various physiological processes. 17β-HSD is predominantly expressed in ovarian granulosa cells and breast tissue, but can also be found in testis, placenta, uterus, prostate, and adipose tissue. 17β-HSD′s homodimeric structure allows preferential utilization of NADP(H) for oxidation and reduction reactions, essential for enzymatic activity. Human 17β-HSD gene is located on chromosome 17q12-q21, and regulation is significant in breast cancer, as increased 17β-HSD expression has been associated with poorer outcomes in patients, particularly those treated with tamoxifen. Specific inhibition of 17β-HSD may represent a promising therapeutic strategy in managing breast cancer, highlighting 17β-HSD′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.

Can 17β-HSD (D-8): sc-373902 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. Yes, 17β-HSD (D-8): sc-373902 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
