caspase-9 Antibody (3C122) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects caspase-9 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Caspase-9 plays a pivotal role in the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis, acting as an initiator caspase that is activated in response to cellular stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. Upon activation, caspase-9 cleaves and activates downstream effector caspases, such as caspase-3 and caspase-7, leading to the execution phase of apoptosis. This process is crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis and eliminating damaged or unwanted cells, thereby preventing the development of various diseases, including cancer. The activation of caspase-9 is tightly regulated and can be influenced by various post-translational modifications, such as phosphorylation and ubiquitination, which can affect its activity and stability. Understanding the function and regulation of caspase-9 is essential for elucidating the mechanisms of apoptosis and developing therapeutic strategies for diseases characterized by dysregulated cell death. Anti-caspase-9 antibody (3C122) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying apoptosis and its implications in health and disease.

Can sc-70505: caspase-9 (3C122) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-70505: caspase-9 (3C122) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
