TRPM5 Activators

TRPM5 activators belong to a class of compounds that enhance the function of the Transient Receptor Potential cation channel subfamily M member 5 (TRPM5). TRPM5 is a non-selective calcium-activated cation channel that is involved in the transduction of taste signals, particularly sweet, umami, and bitter tastes, as well as in thermosensitive and chemical sensing pathways. This channel is known to be activated by internal rises in calcium ions following the activation of G-protein-coupled receptors by their respective ligands.
