TMEM65 Activators

TMEM65 Activators comprise a diverse set of chemical compounds that can modulate the activity of the TMEM65 protein, either directly or indirectly. Among the prominent members of this chemical class is Forskolin, a compound known for its ability to activate adenylate cyclase, thereby elevating cAMP levels within the cell. This surge in cAMP levels can activate a multitude of intracellular pathways, subsequently influencing TMEM65. Similarly, PMA, or Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate, is recognized for its role in activating Protein Kinase C (PKC). As PKC becomes more active, it orchestrates various cellular pathways that, in turn, can have an effect on TMEM65.

Metformin, another critical compound in this category, impacts the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and modulates cellular uptake mechanisms. By influencing these cellular processes, it can also have repercussions on TMEM65's activity. Calcium ionophore A23187 stands out for its ability to fine-tune intracellular calcium levels. Given calcium's pivotal role in a plethora of cellular processes, this modulation can inadvertently bear upon TMEM65. Another agent, Rapamycin, acts as an mTOR inhibitor, curbing cellular metabolism and growth. This containment can, in certain conditions, affect TMEM65. Other chemicals like Dexamethasone, AICAR, Wortmannin, 8-Bromo-cAMP, Staurosporine, Okadaic Acid, and U0126 have their unique mechanisms of action and cellular targets.
