PRPF31 Activators

Pre-mRNA processing factor 31, also known as PRPF31, is a protein that plays a crucial role in the splicing of pre-messenger RNA (pre-mRNA) in eukaryotic cells. Pre-mRNA splicing is a fundamental process in gene expression, where non-coding introns are removed from the pre-mRNA, and the remaining exons are ligated together to form mature mRNA, which can then be translated into proteins. PRPF31 is one of the core components of the spliceosome, a large ribonucleoprotein complex responsible for splicing pre-mRNA.

PRPF31 is specifically associated with the minor spliceosome, which is one of the two major types of spliceosomes in eukaryotic cells, alongside the major spliceosome. The minor spliceosome is responsible for removing rare and non-canonical introns that have distinct consensus sequences compared to those recognized by the major spliceosome. PRPF31 is an essential component of the minor spliceosome and plays a crucial role in its assembly and catalytic function.
