PKAγ cat Activators

Common PKAγ cat Activators include, but are not limited to Forskolin CAS 66575-29-9, H-89 dihydrochloride CAS 130964-39-5, Rolipram CAS 61413-54-5, Sp-cAMPS CAS 93602-66-5 and KT 5720 CAS 108068-98-0.

PKAγ cat activators are compounds that stimulate the activity or expression of PKAγ cat, which stands for the catalytic γ subunit of Protein Kinase A (PKA). PKA, also known as cAMP-dependent protein kinase, is a critical enzyme in cellular signaling pathways, primarily modulated by the intracellular levels of cyclic AMP (cAMP). PKA is a tetrameric holoenzyme composed of two regulatory subunits and two catalytic subunits. Upon binding of cAMP to the regulatory subunits, the catalytic subunits, including PKAγ cat, are released and become active, leading to the phosphorylation of specific serine and threonine residues on target proteins.

The PKAγ cat is one of the multiple isoforms of the catalytic subunits of PKA and plays a unique role in cellular processes regulated by PKA. The activation of PKAγ cat can influence a myriad of cellular responses, from gene transcription and metabolism to cell differentiation and ion channel regulation. PKAγ cat activators, by enhancing the enzyme's activity, can modulate these cellular processes by increasing the phosphorylation of PKA target substrates. Given the central role of PKA in transducing signals from extracellular stimuli into intracellular responses, understanding the specific functions and regulation of PKAγ cat, and the modulation by its activators, offers valuable insights into the intricate signaling networks that underpin cellular physiology. The study of PKAγ cat activators not only provides a deeper comprehension of the role of this specific isoform but also sheds light on the broader implications of PKA-mediated signaling in various cellular contexts.
