PDGF-C Inhibitors

PDGF-C inhibitors belong to a class of chemical compounds specifically designed to target and modulate the activity of PDGF-C (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor C), a member of the PDGF family of proteins. PDGF-C is a growth factor involved in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, migration, and tissue repair. Dysregulation of PDGF-C signaling has been associated with certain pathological conditions, including cancer and fibrotic disorders. Inhibition of PDGF-C has been explored as a strategy to investigate its role in disease pathogenesis and modulate its downstream signaling pathways. PDGF-C inhibitors can act through various mechanisms, including blocking the binding of PDGF-C to its receptors (PDGFRα and PDGFRβ) and inhibiting the activation of receptor tyrosine kinases. By interfering with PDGF-C signaling, these inhibitors may disrupt its ability to promote cell growth, migration, and tissue remodeling. Some PDGF-C inhibitors are multi-kinase inhibitors that target multiple receptor tyrosine kinases, including PDGF receptors, while others are more selective for PDGF-C signaling. Researchers have identified and studied several compounds as PDGF-C inhibitors, such as imatinib, sunitinib, sorafenib, nintedanib, axitinib, crenolanib, SU4312, and others. Additionally, RNA interference using small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) targeting PDGF-C mRNA can be used to specifically knock down its expression and study its function.
