NSDHL Activators

NSDHL Activators are a group of chemicals that indirectly enhance the functional activity of NSDHL by primarily inhibiting the activity of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, a key player in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway. By inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, these compounds, which include Lovastatin, Simvastatin, Pravastatin, Atorvastatin, Fluvastatin, Pitavastatin, Cerivastatin, Mevastatin, and Compactin, increase the demand for cholesterol biosynthesis. This increased demand for cholesterol biosynthesis can lead to an increased functional activity of NSDHL, as NSDHL is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of cholesterol.

Furthermore, other NSDHL Activators such as Zaragozic Acid A exert their effects by inhibiting squalene synthase, another enzyme involved in cholesterol biosynthesis. Similar to the mechanism of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, the inhibition of squalene synthase by these compounds can indirectly increase the demand for NSDHL activity. This increased demand for NSDHL activity due to the inhibition of squalene synthase can lead to an increased functional activity of NSDHL in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway.
