METTL7B Activators are chemical compounds that specifically enhance the functional activity of METTL7B, a protein involved in the cAMP-PKA pathway. These activators mainly act by increasing the levels of cAMP, which is a crucial second messenger involved in multiple biological processes. For example, Epinephrine, Isoproterenol, PGE2, PACAP, GLP-1, VIP, Dopamine, Histamine, and Serotonin are all able to increase cAMP levels by activating specific receptors that are involved in the cAMP-PKA pathway that METTL7B is a part of. The increased cAMP levels can enhance the activity of PKA, leading to an increase in the functional activity of METTL7B.
In addition, some METTL7B Activators function by inhibiting the breakdown of cAMP, leading to increased levels of this second messenger in the cell. Forinstance, Rolipram and IBMX are known to inhibit phosphodiesterase, an enzyme responsible for the breakdown of cAMP, thereby leading to elevated cAMP levels. These increased levels, in turn, enhance the activity of PKA, a key component of the cAMP-PKA pathway. This effect directly leads to the heightened functional activity of METTL7B, as it is an integral part of this pathway. The entire collection of METTL7B Activators, therefore, ensures a range of mechanisms to increase cAMP levels and, consequently, enhance the functional activity of METTL7B. These actions can be either through direct receptor activation or through inhibition of cAMP degradation, both ultimately leading to the enhancement of METTL7B activity via the cAMP-PKA pathway.
