MAT IIβ Activators

Methionine adenosyltransferase II beta (MAT IIβ) is a protein that is part of the methionine adenosyltransferase (MAT) complex. These enzymes play a crucial role in the biosynthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a principal methyl donor in cellular processes.

For instance, chemicals affecting methionine metabolism or SAMe levels, which MAT IIβ is directly involved in, could indirectly influence MAT IIβ action.

In the context of MAT IIβ Activators, this group of chemicals can indirectly impact the function of MAT IIβ by affecting methionine metabolism or S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) levels, both of which MAT IIβ is directly involved in. Methionine, adenosine, folic acid, vitamin B12, homocysteine, sinefungin, 3-deazaadenosine, 5'-methylthioadenosine, betaine, adenosine monophosphate, S-adenosylhomocysteine, and choline can influence the availability of substrates or products in the SAMe synthesis pathway, affecting MAT IIβ activity indirectly. These chemicals provide a means to explore the roles and regulation of MAT IIβ in the biosynthesis of SAMe and methionine metabolism.
