SEE ALSO...

MAT IIβ Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MAT II beta protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAT IIβ (A-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Methionine adenosyltransferase (MAT) is crucial for the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet), a key methyl donor involved in numerous biological processes, including methylation reactions that regulate gene expression and protein function. MAT IIβ, also known as TGR, MAT-II, or SDR23E1, is a 334 amino acid protein that exists as a heterotetramer with two MAT IIα subunits, functioning primarily as a non-catalytic regulatory protein that modulates MAT IIα activity. By altering the kinetic properties of MAT IIα, MAT IIβ enhances susceptibility to inhibition, which is vital for maintaining metabolic homeostasis. This regulatory mechanism is particularly important in hepatoma cells, where MAT IIβ is expressed and may influence cell proliferation by promoting DNA synthesis. Additionally, the presence of multiple isoforms of MAT IIβ, resulting from alternative splicing, underscores the complexity of regulatory roles in various physiological contexts.
