Leucine carboxyl methyltransferase 1 (LCMT1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the methylation of the carboxyl-terminal leucine residue of the catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2Ac). LCMT1 uses S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) as a methyl donor. Several compounds could influence its activity indirectly through pathways or processes it's involved in. For instance, chemicals affecting methionine metabolism or SAMe levels, which LCMT1 is directly involved in, could indirectly influence LCMT1 action.
In the context of LCMT1 Activators, this group of chemicals can indirectly impact the function of LCMT1 by affecting methionine metabolism or S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) levels, both of which LCMT1 is directly involved in.Methionine, adenosine, folic acid, vitamin B12, homocysteine, sinefungin, 3-deazaadenosine, 5'-methylthioadenosine, betaine, adenosine monophosphate, S-adenosylhomocysteine, and choline can influence the availability of substrates or products in the SAMe synthesis pathway, affecting LCMT1 activity indirectly. These chemicals provide a means to explore the roles and regulation of LCMT1 in the biosynthesis of SAMe and methionine metabolism.
