GOT1L1 Activators

Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 1-like 1 (GOT1L1) is a protein encoded by the GOT1L1 gene in humans. It belongs to the family of transaminases, which are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of amino groups from amino acids to alpha-keto acids in the amino acid metabolism pathways. Specifically, transaminases play a pivotal role in the interconversion of amino acids and oxo-acids by transfer of amino groups, a process that is fundamental to the body's ability to generate energy and synthesize new proteins.

The malate-aspartate shuttle enables the transfer of reducing equivalents across the mitochondrial membrane, thus linking the glycolytic pathway in the cytosol with the citric acid cycle in the mitochondria.Although the precise biological function of GOT1L1 is not as well-defined as its cytoplasmic and mitochondrial counterparts, it is thought to have similar enzymatic activity, participating in amino acid metabolism. Its sequence homology with other transaminases suggests a potential role in transamination reactions, but the specific substrates and metabolic pathways GOT1L1 may be involved with are not fully elucidated.
