Glycine is widely used as a buffer for a variety of immunological applications. Glycine is frequently used in the preparation of TG Buffers (Tris-Glycine sc-296648) where the buffer is used as a running and/or transfer buffer for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and western blotting. Glycine (100 mM, pH 2.0-2.5 sc-295018) is also used as an eluent in column chromatography. Glycine has been reported for use in the enzymatic determination of lactate using lactic dehydrogenase. Glycine has also been use for the preparation of gelatin composites scaffold. Glycine, a non-essential amino acid, plays a role in proteins and various biological processes. It is a simple molecule made up of one carbon, two hydrogen atoms, and one oxygen atom. Glycine is a small, polar molecule that readily dissolves in water and is abundant in numerous biological fluids. As a significant neurotransmitter, especially in the central nervous system, it contributes to muscle contraction regulation, memory formation, and learning. Moreover, it serves as a precursor to vital molecules like porphyrins, purines, and heme.
