C2orf90 Activators

Chemical activators of C2orf90 can be understood through various pathways that lead to its activation. Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), a known activator of Protein Kinase C (PKC), can phosphorylate C2orf90 assuming the protein is a PKC substrate. Similarly, Forskolin, by increasing intracellular cAMP levels, activates Protein Kinase A (PKA), another kinase that can phosphorylate C2orf90 if it is a PKA substrate. Ionomycin, through its ability to raise intracellular calcium levels, may activate calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinases, which are potential activators of C2orf90 through phosphorylation. Thapsigargin acts by inhibiting SERCA pumps, thus increasing intracellular calcium, which can then activate kinases that phosphorylate and thereby activate C2orf90. Furthermore, Calyculin A and Okadaic Acid function as protein phosphatase inhibitors, maintaining C2orf90 in a phosphorylated and active state if it is regulated by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation mechanisms.

Anisomycin, which activates stress-activated protein kinases, can serve as an activator of C2orf90 if it falls within their substrate range. Brefeldin A disrupts protein transport, and the resulting stress response might activate kinases that could target C2orf90 for phosphorylation. FTY720 interacts with sphingosine-1-phosphate receptors and can activate downstream kinases that would phosphorylate and activate C2orf90. Zinc Pyrithione has the capability to activate the MAPK pathway, and if C2orf90 is a substrate of MAPK, it could be phosphorylated and activated as a result. Hydrogen peroxide, as an oxidative agent, has the capacity to activate a range of kinase signaling pathways, any of which may lead to the phosphorylation and consequent activation of C2orf90. Lastly, S-Nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP) releases nitric oxide that activates PKG, which can then phosphorylate C2orf90, assuming the protein is a target for PKG-mediated phosphorylation. Each of these chemicals targets specific signaling pathways or cellular processes that have the capacity to activate C2orf90 by means of phosphorylation or sustaining its phosphorylated state.
